MARATHON – Spencer was held to two hits as Marathon powered past the Rockets 6-1 in a WIAA Division 3 baseball regional semifinal on Tuesday at Marathon High School.
Austin Bacon led off the first inning with a single and eventually came around to score for the Rockets’ only run.
Marathon pulled ahead with a three-run third inning, and the Raiders tacked on a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
Chase Higgins suffered the loss, striking out one and walking three in 5 1/3 innings.
Spencer ends its season with a 9-7 record.
Marathon (17-2) will host Stratford (17-2) in a Division 3 regional final at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday. The two teams split a pair of games in Marawood Conference South Division action during the season.
