Stray Dog Was Hit By Car And Brought to MAPS

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – On October 10, Marshfield Area Pet Shelter posted an urgent plea for help in locating the owner of a young dog, later named Ralph, who was found injured in a ditch after being hit by a car. A compassionate individual discovered Ralph and brought him to the shelter. At only seven months old, Ralph’s situation was critical. (Donate to Ralph here!)

He was brought to a local veterinary hospital, where Ralph was evaluated, and x-rays revealed severe injuries. His back leg was so badly fractured that amputation was necessary. His other back leg also suffered a fracture, but vets believe it will heal with time. Ralph spent two days at the hospital receiving care and quickly became a favorite among the staff.

Ralph is now back at the shelter and on the road to recovery. Because of his limited mobility, he spends part of his days in the shelter offices, where staff can give him extra attention and love. However, the cost of Ralph’s medical care is significant, totaling approximately $3,500.

“At Marshfield Area Pet Shelter, we are committed to helping animals like Ralph, but we can’t do it alone,” said Executive Director Karen Rau. “We are reaching out to the community for donations to cover his medical expenses. If you can help, your support will make a huge difference in Ralph’s recovery.”
