HUDSON – The Marshfield boys basketball team started slow in its WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal matchup with Hudson on Saturday night and could not recover, falling to the Raiders 68-55 at Hudson High School.
Third-seeded Hudson (19-4) moves on to a Division 1 sectional semifinal against No. 2 seed Appleton West on Thursday at Oshkosh West. Appleton West beat Eau Claire Memorial 76-58 on Saturday.
Marshfield’s season ends with a share of the Wisconsin Valley Conference title and a 16-7 overall record.
The Tigers shot just 38 percent overall, but were below that in the first half as they fell behind 32-12.
Marshfield got its offense rolling in the second half, putting up 43 points, but the Raiders remained consistent and in control throughout.
Tommy Olson finished with 14 points, Isaac Meverden had 13, and Preston Wagner added 10 for the Tigers. Leading scorer Brant Bohman was held to six on 3-for-12 shooting.
Marshfield made nine 3-pointers in 28 attempts, with Olson and Meverden splashing three each.
