MARSHFIELD – Six different players scored as the Marshfield boys hockey came from behind to down Lakeland 6-3 in a nonconference game Tuesday night at the Marshfield Youth Ice Arena.
The win is the Tigers’ third in a row as they improve to 3-1 this season. The game was the season-opener for Lakeland.
Marshfield trailed 2-1 early in the second period before scoring three goals in a row to take control.
Isaiah Baierl had a goal in the opening period, Adam Maki and Isaac Wellens scored in the second to put the Tigers up for good, and Nick Urban, Max Heller and Evan Weister added goals in the third period to finish off the scoring.
“They (Lakeland) played a really fast game, and we had to dig deep to come out on top,” Marshfield coach Eric Bowman said. “Our team showed a great response after going down 2-1 early in the second period. The Boson, Weister and Urban line had a great night and they were able to match Lakeland’s top line to earn the win for our squad.”
Marshfield opens its Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule at Stevens Point on Thursday.
