Marshfield Boys Take Down Chippewa Falls

Report prepared by Marshfield Head Coach Jeff Molter
Mfld started strong with a goal from Keegan Fredrick assisted by Eli Bremer at the 4:35 mark, however a lapse in pressure allowed the Cardinals to get that back to even at the 9:32 mark. One minute later Mason Horn would answer back with a goal of a ball in from Mathew Uphoff at 10:31, again the Cards battled back with a ball down the wing and a goal at 12:26. Mfld with control of most of the game came out and added to the tally with a game winning goal from Eli on a ball from Cash Frey at 14:35 and we never looked back. Maintaining most of the control and setting the tempo Keegan added a security goal on top of the game winner from Eil at 22:06 on a ball from Dillon McHugh. To top off the scoring on the night Dirk Vanderwyst set in a great ball to Keegan in the middle and Keegan hit a banger from 30 yards out to finish off the scoring on the night.
The second half we pressed and created some really good opportunities we just couldn’t capitalize on. All in all a good night to be a Tiger, it was great to see students in the stands cheering us on (something we’re no always accustomed to) at our home opener.
Kai Rens did a great job in the net, not a clean sheet but made some nice saves for us when it counted, to give us a 5-2 win.
