Marshfield boys tennis grabs win at Wausau West

WAUSAU – The Marshfield boys tennis team improved to 2-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with a 5-2 win over Wausau West on Thursday at West High School.

Marshfield went 3-1 in singles and 2-1 in doubles to win the dual.

Calvin Lawler (No. 2) and Ryan Paulman (No. 3) won in straight sets in singles, and Eli Swansen came back from a set down to win his No. 4 singles matches, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, over Jaden Senakhammee.

The Tigers’ doubles wins came from the No. 1 team of Jared Cordova and Will Fay, and the No. 2 team of Lucas Paulman and Sam Roherty, both in straight sets.

Marshfield will return to West for a two-day tournament on Friday and Saturday. Marshfield will host three meets next week, weather permitting, against Wisconsin Rapids on Monday, Wausau East on Tuesday, and D.C. Everest on Thursday.
