The Marshfield Tigers take home silver as they let a late lead slip, losing to the defending Division 2 state champions Wisconsin Lutheran 57-55.
Wisconsin Lutheran would come out of the gates early and stretched out a lead of 11. But Marshfield found their shooting rhythm later in the half and took the lead on a Landon Lee 3-pointer. Lee would have 8 points, 2-3 from behind the arc in the first half.
Marshfield would hold onto their halftime lead for most of the second half, but Wisconsin Lutheran started cutting into it midway through in the half, Isaiah Mellock would hit a couple of free throws, followed by a layup to give Wisconsin Lutheran a 1-point lead.
But that lead would not last long as 14 seconds later Lee would hit another 3 for the Tigers, giving them a 2-point lead, Marshfield would then extend that lead to 5 with a layup from Valin Ramberg and a 3 from Brooks Hinson.
Lee would hit another couple of layups, the last with 3:38 left to get back to a 5-point lead, but that would be the last points for Marshfield.
Alex Green would hit a layup to cut the lead to 3, then after Marshfield was able to run down 2 minutes before a turnover would lead to a Zavier Zens basket, cutting the lead to 1.
Wisconsin Lutheran would get a layup from Zens to take a 1-point lead with 36 seconds left. Marshfield would not get another good look at the basket.
Marshfield was led in scoring by Landon Lee with 22, Chris Pohl added 10, and Joey Ketterer added 8.
Wisconsin Lutheran was led by Zavier Zens with 19, Alex Greene added 11, and Kager Knueppel added 10.
