MADISON – Marshfield’s No. 1 doubles team of Jared Cordova and Will Fay dropped its first match at the 2019 WIAA State Individual Boys Tennis Tournament at Nielsen Tennis Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
Cordova, a junior, and Fay, a senior, lost to Alton Yan and Gene Kim of Middleton, 6-3, 6-0, in a Division 1 opening round match.
Cordova-Fay finish the season with a 14-3 record.
Yan-Kim (25-2) move on to a second-round match against Colin Knutson-Nick Fischer of Brookfield East (10-0) on Friday afternoon.
Quarterfinals will be played Friday night, with semifinals and the championship matches on Saturday.
