MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Marshfield residents are invited to take part in No Mow May, an initiative designed to support pollinator populations by allowing lawns to grow freely throughout the month of May.

By signing up through a simple online form, residents can join the growing movement to provide vital food and habitat for bees and other early-season pollinators—without the worry of fines for tall grass during the month.

No Mow May was first popularized by Plantlife, a U.K.-based conservation organization, and has since gained traction across North America. The campaign encourages property owners to refrain from mowing during May, allowing native flowers and plants to bloom. These early blossoms offer critical nourishment to pollinators emerging from hibernation at a time when other food sources are scarce.

While No Mow May participation is voluntary and no single organization oversees it, many communities affiliated with Bee City USA and Bee Campus USA have adopted the practice as part of broader pollinator conservation efforts.

Residents who register for the program will not be cited for grass height violations during May. For questions or more information, contact the Marshfield Street Division at 715-486-2081.
