MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – The Marshfield FFA had a very successful National FFA Convention trip this fall!  Mr. Tim Heeg, FFA Advisor, and Ms. Jenna Snortheim, student teacher, brought 18 Marshfield FFA members to Indianapolis, Indiana for the convention.

The Dairy Cattle Evaluation and Management team won the state contest last spring and moved on to the national competition in Indianapolis, where they competed against 43 other state winning teams from around the country and placed 4th in the nation, the highest placing for any Marshfield team in history!  Team members included Emma Bangart, Faith Beining, Wyatt Dorshorst, and Sara Dorshorst, with Emma ranking as the 7th placed individual in the contest.

Marshfield’s Conduct of Chapter Meetings team, consisting of Faith Steinwagner, Alissa Juedes, Hunter Offer, Makayla Haupt, Erika Sleznikow, Jamie Lindow, and Jenna Lindow, represented Wisconsin, and earned a Silver national rating.  Marshfield’s Forestry team, consisting of Carter Grove, Isaac Kruger, Raina Manlick, and Lauren Jakobi, was also Wisconsin’s state winner this year, and earned a Bronze National rating.

Marshfield FFA member Ethan Meissner also was awarded the National Agricultural Processing Proficiency Award at convention, earning $1000 from National FFA in the process. This award recognized his five years of work and skills learned at Hewitt’s Meat Processing, Marshfield.

In addition to convention sessions, career show, and competitions, members visited Shedd Aquarium in Chicago and the Indianapolis Zoo, toured a local apple orchard, and attended a Jimmy Allen concert and the Indy Scream Park.
