MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – On Wednesday, August 14 at 10:53, the Marshfield Fire & Rescue Department was dispatched to Masonite at 1401 E. 4th Street for a fire inside of a silo. E-3, E-2, T-1, and A-95 responded.
All responding units arrived on scene to find smoke showing from the top of a silo as well as a dust collector system. Masonite staff reported that a sawdust explosion occurred followed by visible smoke and flames prior to the fire department’s arrival. MFRD’s aerial apparatus was used to gain access to both the silo as well as the dust collector.
Several hot spots from the explosion were extinguished using the aerial, handlines, and water extinguishers. Additional resources were used for mutual aide including Hewitt Fire Department and Central RIT.
