Fire Engine a Photo Opportunity for Visitors to Local Park
Union members of Local 1021, added a fun addition to Strohman Park this morning. A red fire engine with photo cutout areas joins the festive holiday lights.
Located at City Hall Plaza, the park was developed in 1991 to serve as a memorial to local firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Each year, a firefighter’s memorial is held in the park.
The park contains a small pond and fountain, benches, tables and flower plantings. The Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department staff decorates the site with lights during the winter holiday season.
Union members made the fire engine display as a surprise for Lisa Schutz, the daughter of Marv Strohman, for whom the memorial park is named. Lieutenant Strohman’s name/number are on the first helmet in the exhibit. Schutz and family were at the park this morning to celebrate the new addition, and her grandchildren were the first to have their photos taken in the display.
“We are honored to have the opportunity to keep the memory of Lieutenant Marv Strohman’s career and ultimate sacrifice fresh in our minds and hearts,” the Union said in a statement on Facebook. “Endless ‘thank you’s’ go to the Strohman family. Stop on down and check out the lights and get your pictures taken in the engine!”
