Marshfield girls basketball holds off D.C. Everest for third-straight win

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls basketball team extended its win streak to three after beating D.C. Everest 47-39 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Saturday afternoon at Marshfield High School.

Marshfield outscored D.C. Everest 14-8 at the free throw line to pull out the victory.

The Tigers are now 7-10 overall and 5-5 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference, while Everest falls to 7-11 and 4-6 in conference play.

Jenna Jakobi scored 15 points to lead a balanced attack for Marshfield.

Alexis Wojnowiak had a game-high 20 points for the Evergreens.

Marshfield will host Wisconsin Rapids as part of a girls-boys doubleheader on Monday. The girls game starts at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow at approximately 7:45 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com. The doubleheader has been postponed twice, on Jan. 22 and again on Jan. 28 due to bad weather.

Marshfield defeated Wausau East 59-38 on Friday night at East High School. Game statistics were not reported.
