IOLA – The Marshfield girls golf team wrapped up its regular-season and the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament on Wednesday, competing at the seventh and final leg of the tournament at Glacier Wood Golf Course.

The Tigers had only three girls compete, resulting in a fifth-place finish.

Leia Linzmeier shot a 53 to finish in a tie for 12th place, while Bryssa Lens shot a 62 and Paige Buglrin had a 63 for Marshfield.

Anna Weis ended up ninth in the overall individual standings to earn second-team all-conference honors for the Tigers. Morgan Meyer finished tied for 12th overall and is an honorable mention all-WVC golfer. Weis and Morgan did not compete at the meet on Wednesday.

Stevens Point won the meet, as it did in all seven events, with a score of 170, 31 shots ahead of second-place D.C. Everest.

Point’s Kirsten Hill was meet medalist with a 41, one shot ahead of teammates Abby Nickel and Leah Earnest, and Wausau West/East’s Jasmine Yang.

Yang and Nickel tied for the overall individual WVC champion as neither finished in worse than a tie for fifth at any of the seven meets.
