HORTONVILLE – Marshfield scored 43 seconds into the game and Nina Hashimoto had a hat trick as the Tigers blanked Hortonville 5-0 in a nonconference girls soccer game Friday at Hortonville High School.

Nicole Simon scored off an assist from Hashimoto in the first minute of action to set the tone for the Tigers.

Hashimoto added a goal 3 minutes later, another in the 34th minute, and her third 24 minutes into the second half to put Marshfield up 4-0.

Kate Schilling scored the Tigers’ final goal with 5:14 remaining.

“We controlled the game, and Nicole, Paige Preston, Eva Wahlstrom and Paige Gruenling stepped up and led the team,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “When we control the tempo and win most of the 50/50 balls, and connect our passes, we are a tough team to beat. It was a nice end to a busy week as we went 2-1 and really put us in position to continue our. We have had some solid play out of the entire team and with a few injuries and illness the roster and team have all stepped up as we knew they could.”

Marshfield hosts Wisconsin Rapids on Monday when it hopes to finally play its home opener at Griese Park. Game time is 5 p.m.
