WESTON – D.C. Everest pulled out to a three-goal lead in the first half and poured it on the second half, beating Marshfield 8-2 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls soccer game Thursday night at Stiehm Stadium.
D.C. Everest (4-0-1), playing its conference opener, led 3-0 by halftime and scored five more times in the second half to win going away.
Nina Hashimoto scored both of Marshfield’s goals in the second half, one on a free kick.
D.C. Everest outshot the Tigers (2-4, 1-2 WVC) 31-11 overall and 19-9 on goal. Mikayla Brueggen had 19 saves in goal for Marshfield.
“D.C. Everest once again proved why they are one of the top teams in the Wisconsin Valley Conference, and the area,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “Nina has really shined in games recently scoring for the Tigers. We need to get some scoring from others in top-tier games.”
Marshfield plays a nonconference game at Hortonville on Friday.
