Marshfield — 2014 Marshfield High School graduate Brad Krueger was recently named Division III Academic All-American in track and field by the College of Sports Information Directors of America.

“It means a lot to me, it’s something I’ve been working towards for the past four years,” Krueger said. “I feel that it’s a very well-rounded award.”

Krueger finished his degree with a double major in Chemistry and Physics at Carthage College with an overall GPA of 3.93.

Some highlights from his athletic career at Carthage include winning the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin indoor heptathlon title with a score of 4540 and ranking 23rd in the country after a second-place finish in the 2018 CCIW Outdoor Championship decathlon.

The 22-year old is now working as a Chemist at Hydrite Chemical Company near Madison.

Krueger noted that his education at MHS helped prepare him for post-secondary education. “Teachers in high school gave me constant motivation to take as many AP classes as possible to prepare me for college,” Krueger said. Krueger acknowledged that the AP courses he took at MHS allowed him to pursue a double major at Carthage. Science teachers Josh Knecht and Jon Bauer were mentioned by Krueger as being two of his biggest influencers and motivators at MHS.

Krueger was a three-sport athlete in high school, competing in football, hockey and track and field. He was part of the 2012 football team that made it to the 4th round of the WIAA Division II playoffs.

As Krueger continues down his career path, he plans to run in alumni meets at Carthage and watch his former teammates compete in events in the future.
