UPDATE: Schools, Clinic Under Lockdown due to Community Situations

11: 49 – Situation is developing. The Marshfield High School, Marshfield Medical Center and Marshfield Clinic Health Systems are under lockdown at this time due to a situation developing in the community due to a subject who may have a gun in the ER at the Clinic, police confirm. Police advise to stay away until further notice.

12:26 All Clear Issued. The School Superintendent stated that the Marshfield High School, Madison Elementary, and Tiny Tiger were on a soft lockdown starting 11:24 until 11:40 due to a separate situation on Blodgett Street. Grant Elementary was also on lockdown due to the situation at the Clinic starting at Noon until 12:12 p.m.

On 3/8/19 at approximately 10:50am officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 800 blk of E Blodgett St where a female reported having the back window of her vehicle shattered by a male subject with a gun. Officers responded, crisis negotiations took place, and the male surrendered to officers peacefully at 11:25am.

The male subject stated he owns a gun but did not possess it today and that he broke the window with his fist. Male did have cuts on his wrist and hand consistent to breaking a window. The gun was found secured in a safe.

Due to this incident, Madison Elementary, Marshfield High School, and Tiny Tigers Daycare were under a soft lockdown.

During the above incident, dispatch received a call from Marshfield Medical Center Security at 11:10am that a male was witnessed holding a gun while in a vehicle parked at the Medical Center and proceeded to enter the facility with the gun.

Officers from Marshfield PD and Wood County Sheriff’s Dept responded and began searching for the subject. Contact was made with the female owner of the vehicle and she explained that her adult son and her husband both work at the Medical Center and her son would have been the driver to the vehicle. Contact was made with the son and he was not in possession of the weapon but did admit to playing with an airsoft gun while in his vehicle on the campus. The weapon was confiscated from the glove box of the vehicle.

No criminal events were deemed to have occurred during this incident. The Medical Center and Grant Elementary were placed on a lockdown until the subject was located.
