MARSHFIELD – Marshfield took advantage of seven errors and nine walks by La Crosse, and also smacked 12 hits, including six doubles, in an 18-0 rout on Friday night in the Marshfield Junior Legion Tournament at Jack Hackman Field.
The Blue Devils scored twice in the first inning, added three more in the third, and blew the game open by pouring on 13 runs in the fourth.
Ky Swanson led the hit parade for Marshfield, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and four RBIs. Parker Weik added a double and three RBIs for the Blue Devils (14-3).
Three Marshfield pitchers – Will Fetting, Chase Higgins and Nick Urban – combined for the two-hit, five-inning shutout.
Marshfield will play Neenah St. Mary’s at 10:15 a.m. and Chippewa Falls at 5 p.m. as the tournament continues Saturday.
