Marshfield Junior Legion pounds Wausau

WAUSAU – Riley Bauman threw a five-inning one-hitter, and had three hits and five RBIs to lead the way for the Marshfield Junior Legion baseball team in a 13-1 victory over Wausau on Wednesday night at Athletic Park.

After plating four runs in the top of the first, Bauman smacked a two-run homer in the second and Mason Pavloski had an RBI single to put the Blue Devils up 7-1.

In the third, Logan Homolka had an RBI single and Parker Weik scored on an error, and in the fourth Bauman had a three-run double to put Marshfield up 12-1.

Homolka hit a home run to lead off the fifth to finish the scoring for Marshfield (13-3, 7-3 Wisconsin Valley Conference).

Bauman allowed just one run and one hit, both coming in the first inning. He finished with seven strikeouts and just one walk to earn the win.

Marshfield will host its annual tournament this weekend. The Junior Devils will play La Crosse at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, and play host to Neenah St. Mary’s at 10:15 a.m. and Chippewa Falls at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Jack Hackman Field.
