Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department has a new recruit.
Marshfield native Kyle Kilty started as a Firefighter/Paramedic with the department on Feb. 6.
“I’m very excited to come back and serve the community that raised me,” he said.
Kilty joined his family in volunteer firefighter for the McMillan Fire Department and fell in love with the career and everything that came with the job. His senior year in high school, he took a variety of firefighting classes to get experience. He completed schooling through North Central Technical College in Wausau and received his certifications for the position.
His recent job experience includes a position with Ascension’s Spirit Medical Transport as an EMT/Driver and as a Firefighter/EMT with the Riverside Fire District.
After learning the ins and outs of the department operations, Kilty will start shifts on Feb. 23. For anyone wanting to learn more about firefighting, he encourages volunteering for a local fire department.
