Marshfield Police Chief Issues Update on Ongoing Situation

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – An ongoing police situation has spanned two days now as officers attempt to dissolve the situation. A release issued by Marshfield Police Chief Pat Zeps addressed the situation:

“The Marshfield Police Department has responded to a residence in the area of Popp Avenue from Mann Street to Spencer Street in reference to an individual making homicidal statements. The individual exited his residence with what appeared to be a long-barreled rifle. Upon being confronted by officers, the individual retreated back into his residence.

“Members of the Marshfield Police Department are currently engaged in an ongoing dialogue with the individual in an effort to bring about a peaceful resolution.

“Please avoid this area until further notice.

“More information will be provided as it becomes available.”

Marshfield Police have been assisted by the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Marathon County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Marathon County Crisis Center and Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department throughout the duration of the situation.
