Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) The Marshfield Police Department is investigating another threat that was posted to a bathroom wall at the Marshfield High School on Tuesday.
The incident follows the arrest of two 17-year-old female students who had written bomb threats on bathroom stalls on Monday. Charges in that incident have yet to be filed with the Wood County District Attorney.
“We take these situations extremely seriously and will continue investigating until this matter gets resolved,” the department stated on its Facebook page announcing the investigation. “The safety of our children, staff, and community are of utmost importance.”
Anyone with info regarding the incident can privately message the police Facebook page or report anonymously using the Wood County Crime Stoppers P3 app.
Update 4:45 p.m.:
A message released to parents by the School District of Marshfield and read to students at the end of the school day states:
“Administration is aware that a photo is being circulated on Snapchat that shows a threatening message which we believe was written on a boy’s bathroom stall sometimes late Tuesday afternoon. In working with law enforcement, we believe it to be an inappropriate copycat message that occurred separate from the bomb threat messages that were found on Monday.
“Unfortunately at this time, we have no leads to go on. We request anyone to come forward to school administration who may have information regarding this additional threat.”
There will be a reward to any student who provides information that leads to the discovery and arrest of the individual responsible for the message. The district stated it is putting together plans for next week to address the concern.
