November 2
Walmart loss prevention worker reported that they had assembled a retail theft case for a 30 year old Pittsville female. In total they have identified 14 cases of retail theft from August to November. Loss prevention staff provided the camera footage and reports for all instances. A request for charges will filed with the Marathon County DA’s Office for retail theft.

November 11
Officer responded toW almart for a report of retail theft. Upon arrival, loss prevention staff had a 50-year-old Hixton Female in custody. This Officer reviewed security camera footage and ultimately the female was arrested for felony retail theft. A request for charges will be filed with Marathon County DA’s Office.

November 12
A 98-year-old resident of Marshfield Health Services reported abuse. It was learned that the resident has mental health problems and did not understand that he was being cared for. Marshfield Health Services will follow up with their own investigation however no criminal activity has occurred. Marshfield Health Services requested that this incident be documented.

During a traffic stop a 23 year old Marshfield male asked if I was going to arrest him for child abuse. The male then showed me screen shots of his child’s mother accusing him of child abuse. Contact was made with the 7 month old child and mother. There were no concerns of child abuse substantiated at that time.

A woman called 911 to report smoke alarms going off and smoke filling the entryway to an apartment building on Laurel Ct. Marshfield Fire arrived and determined the smoke was caused when a lit cigarette had fallen behind a bag of rock salt causing and causing burning on the wall. No one in the apartment building admitted to smoking a cigarette.

November 15
Officer observed a vehicle operating during hours of darkness with no headlamps active at 2500 block of Central Ave. A traffic stop was attempted but the driver failed to stop. A vehicle pursuit ensued spanning 3.4 miles. A pursuit intervention technique was performed disabling the vehicle. A 24 year old Marshfield male was taken into custody for Fleeing an Officer and Operating Without A Valid License.

An anonymous caller had called to report a man walking around the building with a knife in his hand and knocking on people’s doors in the 1500 block of McMillan St. Additionally caller reported a man acting bizarre and holding a knife in a parking lot. Upon officers arrival he was located walking towards a gas station and making motions with the knife that looked like stabbing. Officers took the man into custody without incident. He was subsequently transported to Wood County jail for charges of Disorderly Conduct and Felony Bail Jumping.
