With the recent announcement of Wood County’s first confirmed case of COVID-19, it is clear that to protect the health and safety of our patrons, staff, and community as a whole, the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library must close at Noon on Monday, March 16, and will remain closed at least through Monday, April 6th.

As April 6 approaches, library management will evaluate the situation to determine how and when to reopen.

As you’ve no doubt heard, public health officials are emphasizing the importance of “flattening the curve” by slowing transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The intention is to spread out the number of individuals requiring care over time and avoid overwhelming our healthcare systems.

This is a completely unprecedented situation. Closing the library goes against nearly every instinct because the library is a vital community service. However, after careful consideration this is the best course of action to protect our staff, our patrons, and the community of Marshfield. This decision has not been taken lightly.

Holds currently waiting will not expire and will be available for pick up when we re-open. No items will be due during this time. Any overdue fines accrued will be waived. Patrons are encouraged to keep their items at home until after we reopen.

The library will be posting information about online services available to you at home.

Any inquiries can be made directly to Lori Belongia at this lbelongia@marshfieldlibrary or at 715-389-2745.
