Marshfield Residents Invited to Register for “No Mow May”
MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – No Mow May aims to provide an early foraging season for native pollinators. This is done by reducing mowing and chemical applications to lawns.
Doing so increases the number of native plants, which are excellent food sources for pollinators. By not mowing and treating with chemicals, insect habitats are improved for those that are still in diapause (a type of hibernation) in early spring. Weed growth in May is particularly important, as many spring blooms have not emerged.
