WAUSAU – Marshfield Post 54 scored 11 runs over the first three innings and rolled to an 11-1 win over Wausau Post 10 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference Senior Legion baseball game Wednesday night at Athletic Park.
Preston Wagner tossed a five-inning complete game, scattering six hits and one walk while striking out four.
Ben Gust had an RBI groundout and Ty Pankratz smacked a two-run single to give Marshfield a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first.
The Blue Devils added a pair of runs in the second on a bases-loaded walk by Devyn Palmer, one of four he coaxed in the game, and on a wild pitch.
Marshfield effectively put the game away in the third with six more runs. The big blow came from Mason Coffren, who knocked in two runs with a double, and later in the inning two more runs came home on an error.
