Marshfield softball blasts New Richmond in WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield scored four times in the first inning and put the game away with an eight-run second as it blasted New Richmond 16-5 in a WIAA Division 1 softball regional semifinal Tuesday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

Marshfield only had eight hits as they took advantage of five errors and 11 walks by New Richmond.

Courtney Donahue three shutout innings to earn the win, striking out three, as Marshfield won via the 10-run rule in five innings.

Maddie Mews has two hits and two RBIs, Donahue had three RBIs, and Madalen Bornbach, Sandra Costa and Loryn Jakobi also had two RBIs for Marshfield.

Marshfield (15-9) will play a Division 1 regional final at D.C. Everest (14-9) at 5 p.m. Thursday. Everest swept a pair of games from Marshfield during the regular season.
