Marshfield Softball Sweeps Doubleheader vs Merrill

The Marshfield Tigers swept a doubleheader vs the Merrill Bluejays 7-3 and 6-2.

In game one, Marshfield would be led at the plate by Madison Krause who went 2-3, with a double, a walk, an RBI, and a run scored. Lilly Greisbach went 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Shylah Brogan went 2-4 with a stolen base, an RBI, and a run scored.

Katelyn Sternweis pitched a complete game, giving up 3 runs, 2 earned, on 5 hits, 4 walks, and 8 strikeouts.

In game two the Tigers would need 4 runs in the top of the 8th to secure the win.

The top of the 8th would start with a groundout, then Brogan would walk. Kraus would come up next and single Brogan to 3rd.

Brogan would score in the next at-bat on an error attempting to catch Kraus stealing giving Marshifeld the 3-2 lead.

Marshfield would load the bases before Arrianna Pugh singled into left, scoring two runs and making it 5-2.

Lexi Fischer would give Marshfield even more breathing room with an RBI groundout to make it 6-2.

Ashlyn Barwick led the Tigers at the plate, going 3-4 with a double. Pugh went 2-4 with 2 RBI. Griesbach went 2-4 with a run scored, and Krause would go 2-4 with a run scored.

Barwick would get the start going 4 innings, giving up 2 earned runs, on 5 hits, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts. Sternweis would pitch the final four to get the win, giving up 0 runs on 1 hit and striking out 6.
