The Marshfield Tigers had a slow start on Friday night, but came on strong to take down Wisconsin Rapids 37-7 on the back of quarterback Joey Goettl would amass 227 total yards and three total touchdowns.

Marshfield would open the scoring in the 2nd quarter on a 4 yard touchdown pass by Goettl to Wyatt LeMoine.

Then the touchdowns would come quick to end the half, first with 3:22 left Goettl would drop back to throw, barely escape a sack, and then would run 79 yard for a touchdown. Wisconsin Rapids would respond with :47 seconds left with a 20 yard touchdown pass from Austin Pelot to Dylan Lisiza.

On the ensuing kickoff, Simon Slade would get a huge return setting Marshfield up deep inside Rapids territory. With 16 seconds left on the clock Sam Hinson would run it in from 2 yards out.

Marshfield would score again in the third quarter on a 6 yard Goettl touchdown run.

Next for Marshfield would be a 21 yard field goal by Kyle Tremelling to put Marshfield up 31-7. And Marshfield would add one more touchdown for good measure on a 18 yard touchdown run by Ryan Dolezal with just over a minute left in the game.

Marshfield now has to only win one of their next two conference games to clinch a playoff spot. Wisconsin Rapids will need to win both of their last two to have that chance. Come back later tonight when we will break down the playoff senarios from across the area.
