MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Marshfield Utilities sent a notification out to their social media platforms on Thursday, notifying customers that they have received reports of scams circulating in their coverage area.
Customers of MU called the company to report that they had received calls from someone impersonating the utility company, asking about their higher than normal water bill. The scammer offered a $50 credit followed by several more monthly credits to be direct deposited in return for the customer’s banking information.
MU assured in their statement that this call is a scam and is not associated with the company. They also confirmed that they would not ask for banking information over the phone.
