Marshfield Volleyball Defeats D.C. Everest in Regional Final

Marshfield wins the regional final versus D.C. Everest 3 games to 1.  Scores of the set were:  25-19, 25-23, 22-25, 25-17

Statistic Leaders:

Lauren Homolka led us in several categories, kills at 17, block kills at 3, and aces at 4.

Della Smith added 7 kills and tied for the lead in digs at 17.

Zaida Kolbeck also added 17 digs.

Sophia Olson added 6 kills and Alyssa Foemmel had 5 kills.

Kailyn Kurth led us with 28 assists, added 3 aces and had 12 digs.

Coach’s Comments:

I am so happy for this team on them taking the regional final, a goal we had this year along with winning conference.  We knew D.C. Everest would give us a battle, and to their credit we had a big lead in game 3 and they managed to turn the momentum and win that set.  I was a little worried about how our girls would respond from that lost, since Hudson in the regional final last year had lost the first two sets, like Everest, but then took the last 3 sets to give us a heartbreaking lost.  This was something we talked about in practice, to mentally prepare the team, and I was really happy we came back in game 4 and took the lead and momentum right back to win the match.  Offensively, Lauren Homolka was just so efficient for us, with 17 kills out of 30 attacks.  We struggled some in serve receive to get side-outs, especially when Lauren was out of the game,
