Comments:

It was a great weekend for us at the Cardinal Kick-Off, taking the championship for the first time since we added this tournament several years ago.  We had a much more balanced offensive attack today with 5 players having double digit attack kills.  Most schools are going to focus on Lauren Homolka and Della Smith, but Sophia Olson and Alyssa Foemmel really had a great day for us.  Our defense really stepped up as well.  We have been trying to get the girls to always get a touch on a ball, no matter what, and that really paid off today with us making the opponents have to work extra hard to get kills.  Overall, just a great team effort.

The Marshfield High School volleyball team played in the Day 1 Sun Prairie “Cardinal Kick Off” today.  Here were the game scores:

Marshfield vs Madison West (Win 2-0) scores 25-12, 25-10

Marshfield vs Beaver Dam (Win 2-0) scores 25-19, 25-16

Marshfield vs De Pere (Win 2-0) scores 25-23, 25-20

Summary:

The Tiger Volleyball team had a great first day at the Cardinal Kick Off Tournament in Sun Prairie going undefeated in pool play.  Leading the offense for the Tigers was Della Smith with 26 kills while Lauren Homolka had 25 kills and 7 total blocks.  Kailyn Kurth provided 59 assists, 7 aces, and 16 digs.  Today, also marked a milestone in which Kailyn Kurth reached 1000 assists in her career!  The defense was led by Zaida Kolbeck with 29 digs and Michelle Potts added 18.  Day two of the tournament begins at 9 am tomorrow with Marshfield facing Watertown.  The Tigers are currently 7-1 on the season.
