Marshfield volleyball upends D.C. Everest in home finale

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield volleyball team won its second-straight match and ended a six-match losing streak in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with a 3-1 win over D.C. Everest on Thursday at Marshfield High School.

The Tigers won 19-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-23, to improve to 2-6 in the WVC. Everest drops to 3-5.

Karly Nikolai had 14 kills, Kaydee Johnson had 22 digs and seven service aces, and Taylor Barwick had 21 assists to lead Marshfield in each of those categories.

Lindsey Steffen added 20 digs and nine kills, Bailey Matis had 15 assists, and Madison Nelles had seven blocks for the Tigers, who were playing their final home match of the season.

Marshfield will go up against Stevens Point, Wausau East and Wisconsin Rapids at the second Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet on Saturday at Merrill before wrapping up its conference schedule Oct. 11 at Wausau West.
