SPORTSDESK – Marshfield’s Corrianne Johnson hit a three pointer with 9.9 seconds left in the game to bring the Tigers within one, 64-63. The ensuing Eau Claire North inbound pass resulted in a travelling call and Marshfield had the ball back with 8.3 seconds left looking for a shot to win. Katie Osinski launched a 21 foot shot that bounced off the back of the rim and the Huskies from Eau Claire North left Boson Fieldhouse with a razor-thin 64 to 63 win.

It was a back and forth contest all night with both teams often exchanging three-pointers and inexplicable turnovers. Marshfield Tiger head coach, Heidi Michaelis, said it was a frustrating night. “They (Eau Claire North) played with a sense of urgency and the wanted to win. We continue to shoot ourselves in the foot and that’s frustrating”, said Michaelis. “We have eight seconds, we’re in the double bonus and we throw up a shot. We could have gotten a better one.” Eau Claire North made seven from distance and Marshfield hit four.

Marshfield junior, Jenna Jakobi, led all players in scoring with 20, 16 of them coming in the first half. “She plays hard all the time”, said Michaelis, “she’s always going to give us a chance to do good things.” Marshfield’s Katie Osinski contributed 13 points, while Eau Claire North’s scoring was paced by Liz Black (15) and Sydnie Steinmetz (14).
