Marshfield wrestling dominates Merrill

MERRILL – The Marshfield wrestling team regrouped from its first Wisconsin Valley Conference loss in nearly three years with a dominating rout of Merrill, 57-11, on Thursday night at Merrill High School.

Both Marshfield and Merrill are now 2-1 in WVC duals this season.

Marshfield won all but two matches, one of which was a forfeit.

Bentley Schwanebeck-Ostermann (182 pounds), Sam Mitchell (195), and Gabe Pugh (126) each won by pin for Marshfield, with Mitchell’s coming in just 29 seconds.

Nolan Hertel (160) and Shane Westerhausen (120) won by technical fall, and Keagan Cliver (113) and Ryan Dolezal (132) both won by major decision for the Tigers.

Tanner Kanable (138), Caden Pearce (152) and Bradley Hendrickson (170) also posted victories for the Tigers.

Marshfield will compete at the Bi-State Classic in La Crosse on Dec. 28-29.
