Marshfield’s Bohman named Co-Player of the Year, first team pick on 2018-19 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Basketball Team

Marshfield senior Brant Bohman earned unanimous first-team honors and was named Co-Player of the Year on the 2018-19 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Basketball Team, as voted on by the seven conference coaches following the season.

Bohman shared Player of the Year honors with Merrill’s Quinn Steckbauer.

Bohman was Marshfield’s top scorer, averaging 15.9 points per game, which was ninth best in the conference. He shot 43 percent (40 of 93) from 3-point range and was regarded as one of the best defenders in the conference in helping the Tigers to a share of the WVC title with Merrill. The conference championship is just the third in program history for Marshfield.

Steckbauer was second in the conference in scoring, averaging 20.0 points per game, while shooting 52.8 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from 3-point range.

Joining Bohman and Steckbauer on the first team were D.C. Everest senior Zion Turner, Stevens Point junior Evan Vollendorf, and Wausau East junior Gabe Krueger.

Turner led the conference in scoring at 22.7 points per game, Vollendorf was fifth at 18.6 points per game, and Krueger sixth at 17.8 per game.

All five first-teamers were unanimous picks.

Marshfield senior Preston Wagner was a second-team pick, and senior Tommy Olson and junior Isaac Meverden were honorable mention choices.

Wagner topped the conference in free throw shooting at 92.6 percent (25-for-27) and tied for first in 3-point percentage at 49.2 percent (30-for-61), while averaging 12.3 points per game.

Meverden averaged 10.3 points per game nad led the Tigers in rebounding, grabbing 5.2 per game in conference play.

Marshfield head coach Scott Scheuer was named Co-Coach of the Year with Merrill’s Jake Schalow. Schalow is the son of Marshfield High School graduate Mike Schalow, the head coach at Kaukauna.
