MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – The Mary’s Place fundraiser kicked off with a bang last night as Foxfire Affair provided musical entertainment and monies were raised for the group.

Mary’s Place is an organization that provides shelter for those in need. Mary’s Place started the “Burn the Mortgage” fundraiser to get rid of the building’s mortgage payments to more effectively help the organization serve others.

Peter McDonald of Mary’s House said the fundraiser will help the organization carry out a main goal of helping those in need.

“Mary’s Place exists to provide shelter for those in need, offer hope to those feeling hopeless, and helps people seek to find restoration,” McDonald said. “Our primary goal is to provide housing for people in recovery, for people who are homeless, and those in transitional situations.”

The organization is seeking $35,000 to “burn the mortgage”. The Heiman family of Nasonville Dairy located just outside of Marshfield is donating up to $15,000 in matching funds. For every dollar that the community gives to the cause, Nasonville Dairy will match up to $15,000. They will also give a $5,000 bonus to help pay the mortgage if the organization reaches its goal.

The group raised $2,900 at their opening event on Thursday night so with the matching contribution, they are up to $5,800 out of $35,000 raised.

People can donate by giving online at https://www.marysplacemarshfield.org/giving.html by clicking the Burn the Mortgage button or by mailing checks to 300 N. Central Ave, Marshfield, WI 54449.

Mary’s Place offers personalized tours of the facility to learn more about their programs. If you are interested in learning more you can call their office at 715-650-8012 (ask for Pete McDonald) to schedule a tour.
