Voters selected Mataya Eckert and Kacy Eggebrecht of Phillips Girls Basketball as Co-Athletes of the Week, January 28 – February 3, collecting 285 votes.
Coming in second place was Grant Warren of Marathon Boys Basketball with 228 votes. Third place went to Evan Scholl of Auburndale Boys Basketball with 132 votes.
OnFocus Athlete of the Week, January 28 – February 3
- Grant Warren, Marathon Boys Basketball – Warren poured in 30 points for the Raiders in their 92-47 win over Abbotsford, and set the school’s boy’s basketball career scoring leader.
- Carson Gause, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln Boys Hockey – In the Raiders’ 8-5 win over Marshfield, Gause netted a hat trick and added a pair of assists.
- Mataya Eckert / Kacy Eggebrecht, Phillips Girls Basketball – Phillips’ 1-2 punch scored 25 points apiece in the Loggers’ 65-33 win over Abbotsford.
- Evan Scholl, Auburndale Boys Basketball – Scholl scored 28 points in Auburndale’s convincing 78-39 win over Assumption.
- Presley Gutbrod, Tomahawk Boys Wrestling (nominated online) – Gutbrod took first at 113 pounds for the Hatchets at the Great Northern Conference Wrestling Meet. Gutbrod advanced to the finals with three first period pins and then an 8-1 decision in the final.
