Mosinee vs. Medford Lost: 70-73
The Mosinee Boys Basketball Team traveled to Medford for a conference matchup. Medford was fired up tonight with having youth night in the gym. Mosinee and Medford would battle back and forth during the first half. Mosinee would go into half with a 42-36 lead. Mosinee was led in the first half by Landen Thomer with 12 points, Keagen Jirschele with 12 points, Treve Stoffel with 8 points, Cole Kowalski with 5 points, and Aidan Shaughnessy with 5 points.
Out of half, Medford would pressure Mosinee hard to take them out of their offense. Both teams continued to battle with foul trouble and the play was challenging for the teams. The game would come down to execution in the last minutes. Medford would get a big three to tie the game and eventually take the lead by one. Mosinee would then have to foul and Medford would capitalize by making both their free throws to put them up by three. Mosinee would then call a timeout and draw up a play to get a last-second shot attempt which would end up short. The game would end up with Mosinee’s second loss of the season. Mosinee was led in scoring by Landen Thomer´s 23 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 assists. Keagen Jirschele had 19 points, 5 assists, 2 steals, and one assist. Treve Stoffel added 10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals. Cole Kowalski contributed 10 points and 5 rebounds. Aiden Shaughnessy added 5 points and 2 rebounds. David Haskin rounded out the scoring with 3 points and 2 rebounds. Mosinee’s JV team won 60-42 and the JV2 won 50-27 tonight. Mosinee’s varsity record is 14-2 overall and 6-1 in conference. Mosinee will turn around and play D.C. Everest next Tuesday in Mosinee.
