It was tough to put together a roster as the flu bugs running through the team. It made sense how we ran out of gas Monday nights game. We had 7 miss Tuesdays practice and 9 were slotted to miss on Wednesday. We chose to cancel practice and see if we could stop the spread of the virus. Our starting stopper was home sick and we had to make adjustments and as a result we started freshman Tyler Vojta at right back. We started out on fire possessing the ball and earning four corner kicks early. With many coming back and playing with might be the big still in them were tiring fast so we had to go to the bench early and often putting two to three freshman on the field and a younger team. As a result, Medford was able to gain momentum but never really mounted any attack. The best opportunity came late in the first half when Morgan Depuydt made a beautiful left footed cross and attacking Zach Ritter raced in to take the ball of his body, but the slight hesitation on the attacked aloud the goalie to make a great save knotting the half time score at 0. Second half was much of the same back and forth and not real threats on either side. Late in the second half a slotted ball found Mason Janke and it was a 1-0 with the goalie inside the Sox for what appeared to be a tap in goal, but Mason drilled the ball over the net and the game would end in a 0-0 tie and that’s how it would go in the books but for GNC you can earn an extra point for a shootout win. We started the shoot out and Cody Vojta drilled it in the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead. Medford match tying it 1-0. AJ Muench found the low corner and Mylo made a Dave putting us up 2-1. Third round look like we would win as RJ Martinson made it look easy with a Lazer in the low right corner. Medford finish with 3 straight while Medford keeper save two Pines attempts to squeak out the victory 3-4.
