It was an extremely blustery and rain game to start.  We started the game with this huge winds in our face. I told the girls to play simple and move the ball and that is just what they were doing and we were controlling the ball, drove the ball wide and got the ball in the box 5 times in the first 5:22 of the game.  Then mother nature took over the game and we were delayed for over an hour and a half.  Being cooped up in a bus for two hours only to them sit in a cold locker room slowed down our game when we were able to hit the field.  We came back out and we played panicked and nervous.  A couple mental breaks almost cost us as Medford had two nice looks for a goal, but we were able to dodge a bullet and get out of the first half.
In the second half we seemed to control much of the game, but we could not mount much of a threat as any ball played behind the defenders ran out the back of the field.  We were able to put a few on net but when you have such a huge wind at your back you need to shoot every chance you get, the ball is slippery, the wind is moving the ball in the air and when you put shots on frame good things happen and we miss out on that opportunity.
During the shoot out all of the Pines girls put their shots on frame but some failed to put pace on the ball and put it in the back of the net.  It you let of on a ball it gives their college bound keeper a chance to get a hand on that and she did on three opportunities.  Their girls rattled two decisive goals, one off frame, and one rattled off the crossbar and our keep had an opportunity to knock it out but missed it and the wind and momentum carried it in and that sealed the extra point.
