Meet Justin Hansen

Where are you from?:
I am from Oshkosh Wisconsin. I grew up in Oshkosh my whole life.

Where did you go to school?:
I graduated Oshkosh West High School in 2007. I went to UW-Fox Valley and obtained a general associates. Then I continued my education at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. I graduated in 2012 with bachelors in fine arts majoring in criminal justice. I was going to go to law school but I had a change of heart. From there I had a career change and I went to fire school at FVTC. I then pursued my paramedic technical degree at NWTC.

What inspired you to become a firefighter/paramedic?:
I have always had a passion for medicine. I have always liked being able to help people in time of need. I wanted a self-satisfying career where I could make a difference in people lives.

What brought you to Marshfield Fire & Rescue Department?:
I wanted to work for a pro-active aggressive department. I am a big outdoors person and Marshfield has a lot of recreational opportunities. Marshfield is a small knit community where I can settle down and raise a family.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?:
I am looking forward to being able to help and give back to the community of Marshfield. I am excited to make new friends and family.

Any hobbies/interests/stuff you’d want local readers to know about you?:
I love watching any playing all kinds of sports including soccer, basketball, volleyball, golf, and football. I enjoy going deer hunting in the fall. I also enjoy playing cards, games and enjoying a good movie. I love going out and shooting pool and darts.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?:
Once I get more settled in the area I would like to get a Samoyed dog.
