The Marshfield Police Department has welcomed its newest patrol officer.
Allie Eckes was sworn into her position on Monday and officially started on May 8. After growing up in Marshfield, she was happy to return to the city.
“Being back here with my family was one of the key factors,” Eckes said. “I’ve always been wanting to help people, but it’s more meaningful to me knowing I can help out my home community.”
Eckes graduated this May from UW-Stout with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Rehabilitation with a minor in Psychology. She also attended the Chippewa Valley Technical College police academy and worked part-time at the Wood County Sheriff’s Department.
Down the road, Eckes is interested in joining the SWAT team or becoming a K9 handler, but for now is looking forward to making a difference as a patrol officer. “I’m huge with helping people,” she said. “I want to get out there, interact with people of all ages, help and assist where I can.”
When not patrolling, Eckes enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors.
