Merrill Boys Get NC Win over Crandon
Merrill defeated Crandon in nonconference boys basketball, 74-56.
Coach Pieper Game Comments:
“It wasn’t our best effort especially on defense, however we did enough to get the job done, it’s probably the most frustrated I’ve been after an 18 point win, don’t get me wrong I’ll take an 18 point win any day of the week, it just felt like we were a little flat all night and just couldn’t get the spark to really roll, and to me that starts on defense, your defense can fuel your energy on a night like that”
“I’m happy the guys kept battling, we are 2-0 and we did what we were supposed to do to start the season, tonight (Friday) will be a good early season test at Mosinee, this will give us a good idea where we are at right now, it won’t be easy being back to back nights and game 3 of the week, but I think the guys are excited and ready, I think we will bring the energy and effort tonight for sure, it’s always fun playing at Mosinee”
“Four guys in double figures it always a positive, I liked how our Seniors played tonight, a few of them that stood out to me with their energy and work on both ends were Jacob Schmeltzer (19 points & 4 Steals), EJ Weix (15 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists), and Aidan Houghton (14 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists), Sophomore Tyson Ott was also in double figures tonight”
