Voting for the OnFocus Team of the Week, September 12 – September 18 saw a two-way race for the area’s top team.
Support for swim teams from Merrill, Wausau East and SPASH resulted in the teams receiving 396 votes to take the title as OnFocus Team of the Week, September 12 – September 18.
Taking second place with 234 votes was the Edgar Volleyball Team.
OnFocus Team of the Week, September 12 – September 18
- Stanley-Boyd Football – Trailing 27-15 with two and a half minutes left, the Orioles came back with a pair of touchdowns to defeat Mondovi in a shocker.
- Newman Catholic Football – The Cardinals controlled throughout and remained unbeaten with a 55-0 win over Port Edwards.
- Edgar Volleyball (nominated online) – The Wildcats moved to 9-2 with a 3-1 win over Auburndale.
- Phillips Football, Alma Center Lincoln Football – The teams combined for 116 points in 8-Player Football, a game won by Phillips 78-38. Check out some of the numbers: Jace Paul of ACL – 30 of 40 for 388 yards in a losing effort. Phillips had two rushers EACH GAIN more than 200 yards: James Bruhn 295 yards and Will Knaack 221 yards.
- Merrill, Wausau East, SPASH: Girls Swimming – The trio are tied atop the Wisconsin Valley Conference Swimming and Diving Standings, making for a tight race down the stretch.
