Mika wins annual Cyclones Corgi Races in photo finish

(Wausau, WI) – The Wausau Cyclones held their 2nd annual Corgi Races presented by Schierl Tire and Service on Saturday night at Marathon Park in front of a sold-out crowd during the 1st and 2nd intermissions. The races featured a total of 30 corgis from throughout North-Central Wisconsin and beyond. Mika took the championship for the second consecutive year, while edging out equally adorable Scout and Sir Charles Flufferbottom.

The event raised a total of $824 for the Marathon County Humane Society through chuck-a-puck, 50/50 raffle and proceeds from specialty Cyclones Corgi Race merchandise. The Humane Society of Marathon County (HSMC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been established in the Wausau area since the 1950’s.  The vision of HSMC is a cruelty free community enriched by the special bond between people and animals.  Our mission is to inspire and engage the community to end animal suffering and commit to responsible pet ownership.  We achieve that mission by visiting schools to educate children on responsible pet ownership, hosting a low cost spay neuter program on a monthly basis, offering discounted microchipping services and more.
