Millenials and Xenials Have Highest Drunk Driving Rates

A new study has revealed a troubling trend—Millennials and Xenials have the highest drunk
driving rates of all generations. Despite increased awareness and stricter laws, these age
groups are still taking the most risks on the road.
A recent analysis by DeMayo Law examined America’s worst driving habits, breaking down
which groups are most likely to engage in dangerous behaviors behind the wheel. The data
highlights a concerning pattern of alcohol-impaired driving among Millennials (born 1981-
1996) and Xenials (late 1970s-early 1980s).
 Key Findings:
Millennials & Xenials top the charts
 for drunk driving incidents.
Males
are significantly more likely to drive under the influence than females.
Nighttime driving hours
see the highest spike in alcohol-related crashes.
 What’s fueling this trend?
Cultural shifts & social habits
 – Younger generations frequent bars, events, and nightlife more often.
Overconfidence in “handling” alcohol
 – Many believe they can gauge their limits.
Lack of reliable transportation options
 – Ride-share use drops in suburban and rural areas.
