A spirited stretch of voting took place in the race for the OnFocus Team of the Week, February 21 – February 27.
For this week’s contest, we celebrated the WIAA Girls Basketball State Championships, with the five championship teams earning nominations.
It was a two team race that saw Mishicot Girls Basketball pick up the title of OnFocus Team of the Week, collecting 776 votes.
Coming in second was Division 1 Champion Germantown Girls Basketball, which garnered 528 votes.
Congratulations to all five girls state championships for outstanding seasons!

OnFocus Team of the Week Nominees, February 21 – February 27
- Lake Mills Girls Basketball – Lake Mills (25-2) earned a berth in the WIAA Division 3 Girls State Championship by defeating Howards Grove, 70-60. Mills then handed Aquinas their only loss of the season to win the state title, 78-67.
- Germantown Girls Basketball – Germantown(29-1) handled their opponents at State, picking up wins over Verona, 76-57 in the semifinal and then took care of Hudson, 63-48 in the Division 1 championship game.
- Assumption Girls Basketball – The Royals began the season 3-6 but then went on a tear to take the Division 5 State Title. Assumption (15-8) earned a ticket in the championship game by defeating McDonell Central 46-43. The Royals then defeated Three Lakes 55-48 for the title.
- Notre Dame Girls Basketball – Notre Dame capped off their season with a pair of wins at state, finishing with a 27-1 record. The Tritons downed Onalaska, 64-42 in the state semifinals before defeating Reedsburg in the Division 2 title game, 68-56.
- Mishicot Girls Basketball – Mishicot’s road to the state title began with a convincing win over Fall Creek in the semifinals, 55-30. Then in the closest title game at state, Mishicot edged Mineral Point, 70-66 to take the Division 4 Championship.
