Missing Wood County Juvenile Found After Getting Lost in Woods

BABCOCK, WI (OnFocus) – On March 27 at 6:32pm, the Wood County Dispatch Center received a call of a missing juvenile. Additional details indicated a 14 year-old was lost in the woods near his residence.

The juvenile had been missing for approximately one hour prior to being reported to the Wood County Dispatch Center. Units of the Wood County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area and a search was started.

Contact was made with the Township of Remington and Pittsville Fire Departments for additional services and to expand the search. After an extensive search using people on foot, a drone, and a Wood County K9, the juvenile was successfully located at 8:35 p.m. in a wooded area north of Babcock, near the Yellow River.

The juvenile was evaluated by medical staff on scene and was released. Agencies assisting in this incident included Wood County Sheriff’s Department Rescue, Remington Fire and Pittsville Fire/EMS.
